1980 Land Rover Series III LWB to SWB - wip

A lot of stuff in the box.  

Here we go. 

Cut of the roof 

The plan how to cut effectively comes up in my mind when I'm on it. 

 

First fitting of the rear part and the sides..

That's how it been done - only 60 minutes 😄 

Planning to cut the interior... 

...and the frame as well as the undercarriage. 

I have to get more space between the rear axle and transmission because I have to remove quite an inch between. So I shortened the transmission box and moved the cross member near to the engine. That is, what you see in the picture at the bottom: the cut transmission 

The cross member before it's new position and the shorter transmission. See the gap? This is the space, the cross member has to be moved forward. 

Done. The main frame is shortened. 

Btw: the floor panel is allready shortened. I removed the space or the rear passengers seats. This was exactly the meassurement, I had to remove. 

Chassis is done. Added the front axle too. 

The wheelbase is done. Only the rear is way to long. 

Test fitting for the body parts 

The body is glued and one piece again. The Chasis is done and the interior floor with side panels are done too. Let's finish that thing! 

Made some more room for the transmission and gearbox 

Fitted the fuel tank under the front seats 

Added the rear cross frame … and some on a hand full of spots on the body 

Shortened the exhaust system. In the picture it is not glued yet. I'll do that when all is painted. 

The filler is on it. There are a couple of spots to be filled and sanded.  

Nearly forgot the filler cap hole thing. After drilling and using my file, the putty got away. So I had to fill it again.  

The paint is on. Until today I wasn't sure which color I'd like to have. The dark green was already chosen but I changed my mind about it. 

 

Now up to the completing the thing.  

The painting is done so far.

Made the thing dirty. 

 

 

The interior tube is completed, the cassis is underneath glued in place. 

After a couple of month, there came lines of cutting and gluing to the surface. I had to fix it somehow. Sanding, painting, sanding .... It sucked. 

Finally I had enough of it and basecoated the left side. 

After another period of time I painted the dude today. Still not that perfect but I'm done with it. I'm not in the mood, to lay my hands another month on it only because of the imperfections. 

The windows and little things are done on the body.  

...only small steps left.  

Put some mudd underneath

Painted some dust to the body.
