It looks, like there was a reboxing of the 6440 Kit, which does not really increase the value of the Kit. The Magic Tracks have been replaced by DS Tracks and the N Spure -> Jerry Cans and the second PE Fret has been removed. Also the spure and fret do not show up in the instruction anymore. Lower quality but increased price- I'm a bit disappointed

This is an ongoing trend for Dragon to reissue their kits with magic tracks replaced with DS tracks and other goodies (metal barrel, etc) removed. Happened to me too with a couple of kits.
Nothing we can do about it but mark them in the scalemates database. The bad thing is that they have the same box art, same id, etc
The one you got is actually this one: scalemates.com/kits/955822-d..m-s-ig-33-sfl-auf-pz-kpfw-ii

Ok, didn't saw that. I can life with the missing magic tracks since I normally use Friul Tracks, but the Jerry Cans are very typical for this vehicle. To remove these is bollocks.

Yes, there is a problem here Dan, because the one you showed in the link is described here in scalemates as:
Rebox (Updated/New parts)
It doesn't say something like fewer parts or less sprues or changed tracks.
Something should be alerted here for the facts Eric described.
I would be disappointed too 🙁

Yes, well, it's not the only Dragon kit with this problem unfortunately. More and more kits are re-issues with less stuff. For example I have kits 6612 and 6321. At the time I got them I didn't know about this reboxing so I was very surprised to discover that contrary to all reviews there were no Magic Tracks and no metal barrel 🙁.
On scalemates they are usually added as "new production run" or "with DS tracks" but it's very easy to miss them. And it also doesn't say what extras might not be there anymore.

I do agree we need some way of making them visible, like adding some notes on them. Just mentioning DS tracks is not enough.

While I was a big fan of Dragon kits in the past, nowadays I'm very cautious on what I'm getting, especially for older kits. I find this to be a very nasty move from Dragon's part and I can only hope that customers will vote with their wallets so that such things are not encouraged anymore.

I agree with you Dan.
And saying here "with DS tracks" is not enough. We should also have a downgrade version with missing parts/pieces

A couple of weeks ago, I did a feature request to see if it would be possible to add some sort of 'build notes' to the kit database, as a way of storing information about the build. Maybe something similar, like 'Additional Information' as a field in kit database? Then it would be possible to warn others about changes to a particular kit.
I think Tim is busy on other stuff at the moment and has yet to reply about my request.

Perhaps it would be possible to not only show the box art, but also the back of the box? With modern dragon kits, there's usually a content overview. Should be easy to compare original and new production runs this way. Just a thought...

i like ds tracks. I wish they would sell them outside of their kits.
