Volkswagen Golf MKI

This body needs work. 

Only having one bumper style and not having a front number plate, so filling in the gaps with Tamiya putty.  

Made an exhaust tip from styrene tube.  

But this will need modifying first.  

Hmm... why doesn't it fit like it should? 

Never mind, I have a plan...

Spoon testing. Left is SMS Fluro Blue over white. Right is my own concoction of Tamiya acrylics, mixed together to make a mustard yellow leather colour. This one is over a white base. 

Mustard yellow on interior parta 

Black Mr Surfacer as my semi-gloss black go-to. 

Undercarriage on its way to being done. This Fluro Blue is hard to get even. Might have to up my needle size for better evenness. 

Undercarriage and wheels completed. Weathered with Tamiya Dark Brown Panel Liner and Tamiya Weathering Kit D. The wheels are the kit chrome with the centre painted with SMS Gold Chrome Marker.  

Good view of the upgraded exhaust.  

Seats painted.  

Headrests upgraded using guitar string.  

These parts glue together so they can fold.  

Dashboard done.  

Interior flocked. Poorly I might add.  

Spare wheel cover installed.  

Rear shelf flocked. 

Interior completed! 

Rear seats folded down.  

Wheels on.  

Had to glue the wheels on because they were such a loose fit.  

Front grill done in SMS Gloss Black. Red border to come. My masking will need to be spot on.  

Interior black laid down. 

Light/grill insert blacked out. Can also see the filled in front done with Tamiya Putty.  

Front grill painted in SMS Gloss Black and SMS Red. 

Body painted in SMS Fluro Blue. For some reason it was as thin as water and wouldn't go on smooth. I tried light coats, heavy coats, thinned coats, etc. But this was the end result.  

Decanted a can Tamiya French Blue and went again. Lots of orange peel, but a more even coat for aire 

After wet sanding. Burned through a couple of little spots that will need to be touched up.
