AREA 88 : "Shin Kazama" (F-8E Crusader)
Wing tip separated
Wing folded and interior drilled out and scratch built
Cockpit painted and some photoetched pieces added
Cockpit being assembled
Cockpit dry fit in place
Cockpit and air intake assembly glued in place
Fit looks good
I know Crusader's sit low on the back wheels... but I added weight, just in case! Glued in place and added a brace behind it to be sure.
Fuselage glued together. It's a very tight fit, but I clamped the nose to ensure there's minimal gap between the wall and the air intake.
A bit of pity, sanded and primed
Hmmm... can still see a bit of the seam. Needs more work.
Not bad, but a little more work needs ere too.
Added a bit more putty. Looks like more sanding.
Sanding done and several coats of white paint applied to the underbelly.
Not bad, but I had a bit of a drip/run problem with the paint around the tail and the nose cone. Hopefully I caught them quickly enough to paint them away.
