2016 Corvette Stingray Coupe C7 (red) - wip

Album image #1
So here we go. The first step as usual: putting together the parts into groups and prepare them to paint.

Album image #2
The main groups are painted. Starting with the detail work.

Album image #3
Today was paint day. I took the chassis of 2 C5 and 1 C7 to do some detailling. The C7 is on the left.

Album image #4
An overview of the most parts. Now I can go for completing the chassis. Then the body paint.

Album image #5
The fact, that the C7 has to be torch red, I compared the pre painted C7 body by Revell (top) with a self painted body of a C6 (bottom). The different is not much. But when they are nearby, it is visible.

Album image #6
Here we go. Base coat.

Album image #7
Next step: torch red.

Album image #8
Prepared to paint the black body parts

Album image #9
Painted

Album image #10
...and dewrapped (or so)

Album image #11
This step felt like a piece of cake. Nearly two houres.

Album image #12
Decals are done. The center of the steering wheel has to be matt. I know. Just see it on the picture

Album image #13
First layer of clear coat is done.

First results.

Album image #19
Second try for a better mold.

Album image #20
The mold is leaking *lol*. I will see the result later. Maybe it can be used.

Album image #21
Good, that I have a hand full of C7 to test the roof thing.

Album image #22
Mold #3. Waiting for the dried stuff.

Album image #23
A small piece was ripped out when I took out the body of the C7.

Album image #24
So the next try. Now for a two piece mold.

Album image #25
Album image #26
Nevertheless I want to see how the part gonna be. Tinted blue.

Album image #28
The final layer of clear coat.

Album image #29
Album image #30
Another try.

Album image #31
Now wait until it is dry. And hopefully hard.

Album image #32
:/ Try #6 (clear, left) and #7 (blue).

Album image #33
Wohoo! One checkbox can be crossed: the transparent paintjob. On a failured part I tried to paint it as desired. It seems to be ok 😄. It looks glossy black but.....

Album image #34
...when you turn it to the light, it is transparent blue as wished. One success 🙂

Album image #35
Cut the roof ...

Album image #36
...building a new casting form and in the background another roof...

Album image #37
The doner car 😉 will be an opened C7. On this I'm gonna try to build some parts to get the transparent roof on it that it sits accurate.

Album image #38
The roof is gone. Looking forward to fit in the transpatent roof.

Album image #39
The C7 is done as far as it came out of the box. The roof is cut of and lays on the car.

Album image #40
The stock roof will be painted again. Only the transparent roof and license plates will fullfill the model kit. Only three parts missing 🙂

Album image #41
A small but an important detail: the rear spoiler 😉

Album image #42
So far so good. The only missing thing is the roof.
