1991 Pontiac Firebird (green) for a friend - wip
Except this ugly mirrors, the D80 rear lid spoiler and golden rims, it will be like the car in the picture.
Started with the main parts putting together
The surrounding of the coolant system
The engine switched to a TBI type
Seats and firewall
And the ground effects nearby the bumpers fitted to each other and the body.
First step. Base coated.
First layer of green. Not that good ...
First layer of green sucked. See the shadows on the door? This couldn't been fixed with more layers or clear coat. Thanks to my experiences. So what to do? ....
...wet sanding and a shiny black layer of color.
New layer of green - awesome!
No clear coat yet!
Sweet. That's what I'm aiming for.
Interior and engine is painted. Next is the detailing.
8 months later I took four model kits to paint all the details. So the interior and engine is done. Next: Chassis.

Turns through the last corner. The finish line ahead.
Rear lights and rear view mirrors them it's done.
Last challenge: transform the lower rear lights (1/24) to 1/25 to fit to the original.

I have to check, which is already opened. It has to be fitted into scale.

Christian WThis kit will be straight out of the box. Just the rear lights should be the european styled ones. Every part I take out of other kits will be reproduced! I hate to rip kits apart only for one or two parts I need.

Christian WPainted the green one in original color. I'm not satisfied with the result. As usual I use rattle can. So here too. Both I bought do not cover well. The base color looks through all wells and there are shadows on both doors. Crap. Maybe I remove the paint and repaint it.

Christian WAfter the green didn't work out nicely, I wet sanded the body and painted it black..man, should I build a black one (again)? A dozen years ago I did that. It looks pretty nice 🙂 Next will be green again.
Btw. I removed all badges on the body.

Christian WThank you! After the first layer of clear coat: delicious. It turnes out good so far. There are some tiny flaws and imperfection. After a round of wet sanding it will become a second layer as usual.
