The material is really thick
So, now the doorpanels are in pieces...
...and that looks....hmmmm...a lot of holes to be filled
...in the meantime...
started the engines. HEMI for one...
...440 for another one.
started wiring only for sparkplugs
of course in correct firing order 😉
...i found the "right" way for me.
After a lot of trying, trash produced door hinges.
marking the correct fit to glue the hinges
thinned the plastik out as as much as possible (ignore the two tubes)
the final mounting on the body
like the original, they had to open inwards
in my view: perfect
...to fill the holes from the doors, made a first form out of paper
overlayed it to 0,5 sheet (keep it lightweight)
hold the doorpanels in the right place while filling the holes
glued sheet to fit the doorpanels better (later, after painting)
also made some covers to the front part of the doors
same on the b_pillars. made a form out of paper

only some filling needed when glued on

cleaned up the glued parts
next parts glued. Only to make it look a little bit realistic.
A nice sideeffect is, that the doors are fitting much better with this parts
testfit, if the rear bench will fit later (after painting), when the side panel are glued? no!
before i glued the sidepanels to the floor, i have to instal the rear bench.
So, my first color choice is done. The second one will be black inside - can be painted after the coming work 😉

i sanded the outside from the sidepanels
started drilling holes thru the b-pillar and doors...
....
...glued a magnet into the door...
...and drilled out the position for the magnet in the B-pillar
magnets installed
the same work also on the second Charger.
perfect!
Ah, perhaps a question, why the windshields are installed?
To check, how the dashboard is fitting. i had to sand them narrower.

the sidepanels are sanded and fit perfect in my view - thats what i like!
after that big step of work is nearly done to get on paint of the body, i painted the parts (both Charger similar)
Made my first decision of paint: bright blue. The second will be...i think white.
...and cleared the fueltank from inscription from Revell. overseen...

i was in the flow...so i can't get stopping me, wanted to see the chassis (rear) completed.

Painted doorentrys in bodypaint. Thats working really as i wished. I'm happy with this big step!

made the interior details so far ready and painted the doorentries with the body colors
also i painted the inner side of the bodyparts
first layer of primer on both
and the experiment with the vinyl roof is starting. The seen lines are small stripes of BMF i made on the body to have the overlay from the vinyl parts. on the C-pillar i made the same, but three layers of BMF. I hope it will work as expected.
after the first primer, there are some spots to work on before i can paint the body. of course they are!
I would have been surprised if it wasn't something to rework.

Album info
Building two Dodge Charger with opening Doors.
One will be with vinyl roof and Hemi Engine, the other one will be with 440 Engine, without vinyl roof and Steelies.
Colors?
White with Interior black/black, the second will be bright blue with black/white Interior
