WHIF: Supermarine S.7
The box... of course!
Sprues... hmm... lots of Flash... I wonder if this is an old kit?
Cut... glue... lots of sink marks... sanding will be happening.
Let’s start by making something that looks like a cockpit.
Paint on the cockpit and the second prop scratchbuilt.
The fuselage is glued together and extra bits added to the cockpit.
Contra props in place... and resting on the floats.
So the legs are built, but not attached. The wings are sanded down...and I added a do-dad to the engine block. What’s next?
Putty... and sanding... lots of sanding.
Sanding done and new panel lines/rivets scribed... all glued together.
Painted the whole thing silver and then masked it...
Hmmm...
I dunno... I’m not quite feeling it. Maybe the blue’s too dark...?
Some more masking... hope I didn’t miss a spot!
Only a couple of small masking errors. Looking pretty good now.
Not sure about the rigging, but after several failed attempts using different materials, I’ll take what I can get.
A bit extra around the engine... just because.
A close up on the cockpit. Can't really see the decal instrument panel, but I think the scratchbuilt windscreen works better than the kit part. It's thinner at least.
Tail painted, but I decided to redo the rigging... it never seems to want to come out the way I envision it, but oh, well.
There we are... done.
