AREA 88: "Sitting on the Tarmac" (B-707)
A nice shiny new red box.
And some OLD sprues with lots of flashing.
The fit will take some inspiration and perspiration.
Ok, let’s wire up the wings... Green on the right.
Red on the left!
Test run... wingtip lights on, looks good.
Interior lights in place.
All lit up. Yeah... this’ll work.
added 6g of nose weight (as per the instructions) and painted the cabin interior black.
All glued up and ready to go!
Time to work on the engines. They're plain, but the fans from a 1/288 B747 should work to add some details.
A bit small, but not very noticeable.
First round of putty and sanding complete. Engine pods added... now for round two!
Windows masked... finally.
First coat of white paint on. That always makes me happy.
Masking taped... first coat of aluminum, but I bet it won't be the last...
More masking... now for some dark metallic grey.
Paint looks pretty good, but the tape took off some of the aluminum, so there will be touch ups... of course!
More masking.. and blue paint. I hope it's close enough to Lufthansa colours...
Drilled out the engines... that took a while.
Engines on.. so of course we need another power test!
And... decals! They're from an A300, so they're a bit big... but close enough for comic books!
Finally, we need some stairs. A bit of leftover tank bits should do the trick.
That's about the right height I think. And... we're done.
