Tamiya: Subaru Impreza WRC 2001 - WIP
Prep'ed body and sanded with 400 grit
Pre-built the roll-cage for painting
Prep'ed all body color pieces for painting
primed with Stynelrez
Decanting TS-50, body color.
4 or 5 coats of TS-50 mixed 1:1 with Mr Color Leveling Thinner. Super easy to spray but man the fumes!
First time trying Alclad II Klear Gloss (#310). Much easier to apply than Future. This might be my go-to for bodies.
Getting ready to decal...
OMG, this thing is huge
That was an experience. Not terrible but I have a ways to go to get better at using set/sol for such large decals
Decals on and Alclad II Klear coat (#310)
You can see here that the clear coat is pretty shiny but for me not sure it's worth all the effort as you can't see from the photo but there is a fair amount of dust specs which ruins the effect. I might try polishing to see if it improves things.
Finally ready to paint...
Undercarriage incomplete
Taking a break while doing non-body decals.... so many
Undercarriage complete.
Started on the interior
Windows done and Futured....
masking for the black trim...
Turned out well. Was worth the effort for sure.
Not sure how this happens. Maybe the model was really cold when I put the decal on?
Pre-building the roll cage makes for a tricky operation to get the helmet box installed so I think I would advise to follow the build sequence in the instructions
Interior finished!
She's done!
