Build #4

Looks like a much simpler build than the ones before. Going to use this one to experiment painting with oils for the leather and canvas parts. Also going to find some alternative chrome paint from Tamiya's X-11.

Ended up using Alclad II for the chrome.

Notes about the model and build:

1) Working with oil paints is definitely going to take some learning. Was very pleased with the "wood" effect on the dash. Could have been better but still effective. Also love the effect of epoxy for the glass on the dials.

2) Love love love Alclad! So far the nicest paint I've had to work with.

3) The kit itself is basic, lacks details and doesn't fit together well. I learnt from doing this model that I prefer to build more complex and demanding models as I seem to value quality over quantity. If I'm going to put hours and hours into a build I really want it to show. This build looks pretty enough but the end result was not satisfying.

However, if you want to see what can be achieved with this kit by an experience modeler then check out this build: scalemates.com/profi..bums&album=20481

Tom ...
Going to try using oil paints to do the leather and canvas parts. Any personal recommendations on what oils to use. I'm going to be googling/youtubing it all but any pointers are appreciated.

Tom, it depends on, what you can buy in the US. Here in Germany, Schmincke is a good company for Oil Paints.

Thanks, Arne. My local arts store seems to have Schmincke: dickblick.com/brands/schmincke/

Thank you for the referral!
