CASA C 2.111 SAR - Viva Espana
1
March 10, 2019The ICM fuselage is a "click-fit". So easy - so accurate!2
March 10, 2019The interior color (Vallejo RLM02) is too dark, but I hope in the end, we'll see not much of it 🙂3
March 10, 2019Fuselage halfes glued together. The kit is very good engineered!4
March 10, 2019First rough adjustment in the Cockpit. As I saw later on reference pictures, the inside color here was not RLM02 🙁5
March 10, 2019As CASA got the Merlins with the nacelles, the Belcher Bits engines are ok for me.6
March 10, 2019Dual controls7
March 10, 2019The Spaniards didn't had a use of the windows in the ventral position, so I closed them.8
March 10, 2019As the built goes on, I found more and more differencies between the German He 111 and the CASA C2111.9
April 21, 2019Added the small window in the front cowling.10
March 10, 2019The troubles started, when installing the wings. Lot of trimming and bending!! Not the same fit-quality as the fuselage 🙁11
April 21, 2019Merlins in place. After a long adjustment time, the position is ok for me.12
April 21, 2019After positioning, I'll start to install a proper fixture for the engines. Then a lot of sanding and filling.13
May 8, 2019So I got the ending of the engine to the gear well right. Grinding, sanding and filling of the engine connection can start now.14
April 21, 2019Added a small detail on the tail. Seems the "Pedro" was able to tow a glider (would be interesting which one? Any pictures known??).15
May 8, 2019I removed the profile of the tire by knife to got an used look. The Spaniards used tires of their own manufactures with a different profile but I was unable to find such a wheel in the aftermarket.16
May 8, 2019I changed the cockpit interior color to antrazite-grey, as a lot of pictures show the cockpit quite dark.17
May 13, 2019For the first time, I tried to work with small magnets to hold the propeller.18
May 13, 2019The result is funny! You can spin the propeller by blowing air to it, the propeller has no inbalance!19
May 13, 2019Happy with that! The blades still need to be adjusted. It also needs a bigger spinner.20
May 13, 2019Because I had too much time, I made a transport box for the CASA.21
May 23, 2019The prop-story ends here. Thanks to spare propellers from the Tamiya Mosquito kit and spinners from 109-kits, the propeller has its (near) final look.22
May 23, 2019The 109-spinners fit nice to the engine nacelles. So focus goes back to them.23
July 14, 2019Seats are done (RH kit part, LH scratch - 2x eduard seat belts), dual controls (scratch) installed.24
July 14, 2019Ventral clear parts in position25
July 14, 2019Side rudder try fit26
July 14, 2019Plotter-test for airbrush masks27
July 14, 2019Roundel-dummy in place. The wing tips will be yellow with a black stripe on the inner end28
July 28, 2019Landing gear modification. The C2.111 had no dust protectors for the damper pistons.29
August 22, 2019The instrument panel is self-made of cutted eduards photo etched colored parts.30
August 22, 2019Exhausts cutted and in place (I used Airacobra-Fishtail exhausts). I also added the screen in front of the air scoop31
August 22, 2019The silver coating is nearly done. All the clear front parts used my nerves very much but since i cutted away the bomb aimers floor, I had no fuselage parts to guide the clear parts.32
September 3, 2019Roundel masks for wings and fuselage33
September 3, 2019Painting process: Primed, yellow sprayed (5 layers), inner roundel mask placed, primed, red sprayed (4 layers), tape removed34
September 3, 2019A japanese one?35
September 3, 2019Happy with that 🙂36
September 3, 2019Some minor corrections will follow37
September 7, 2019The windows of the CASA were different to the He-111, but to change the panels to windows was too much for me so I left them in Heinkel-mode.38
September 7, 2019Selfmade masks for the fuselage applied39
September 7, 2019... and after airbrushing. However, it was then I saw that the roundel is placed too high on the fuselage side.40
September 17, 2019Meanwhile, bad news of the landing gear: The modified kit parts collapsed during a dry-fit on the CASA. So I got a SAC-Replacement set, which I also had to modify... (SAC delivered two LH landing gear sets, but this is just a detail now)41
October 1, 2019Found the limitations of my plotter (and myself) when applying the writing on the vertical stabilizer.42
October 20, 2019Don't know the reason for these tubes on the lower wing side, but as they are on all CASA-Pictures, I added some cutted syringe needles43
December 20, 201944
October 25, 2019Hope this helps 🙂45
October 20, 2019And finished. Just a great reference book!46
October 20, 2019Some finish-pictures will follow...47
December 20, 2019... and now, the finish-pictures 🙂48

Album info
Stopped all other Projects for this one. Inspired by an IPMS idea. The spanish manufacturer CASA built this CASA C2111 as a T.8B Trainer with dual controls and all (?) specific bomber items removed. It was used for SAR in the sixties (with number 2540 painted), but only 2 Pictures of it are known. Let the fun begin!
