It is possible to add plastic strips, however that would require cutting out the leaf springs. Quite a bit of effort for that one I'd say, but not something I would shy away. In the end, Takom could have just molded that accurately and it won't need any modification.

That is a good idea. I have an Academy Hetzer in the mid variant. It is possibly one of the easiest and more accurate kits of the Hetzer out there. About the leaf spring sizes, strictly speaking not all early versions had same size front and back. From what I recall it was possible the change was made later into the early variant production, which carried over to the mid and late versions. If you do make an early hetzer with the same sized leaf springs though, do note they tend to sag in front a bit due to the forward biased weight.
